Background: Many of the Israel's Moslem community went yesterday (Friday) to their second holiest shrine in the Old City of Jerusalem for the first time in 20 years and prayed with Jordanian Moslems.

Under the Israel Government's declaration of freedom of worship, the Israeli Arabs will be allowed into the Old City of Jerusalem every Friday to pray at the Omar Mosque or the El Aksa Mosque.

Yesterday, about 2,000 people were in the Old City for common prayer. The Israeli Government provided a bus service from near Mount Zion, in the new city, to Saint Stephens Gate, about 160 yards (150 metres) from the mosques.

Among those there to ensure all want smoothly was the Israeli Defence Minister, General Moshe Dayan.
