    West German Georg Auerbacher won the 750 cc sidecar event on Saturday (June 5) at the international Tourist Trophy motorcycle meeting at the Isle of Man, off Britain's west coast.

    The major T.T. races start on Monday (June 7).

    Auerbacher completed the 113.19 miles (182 kilometres) course, over three laps, in one hour 18 minutes 12 seconds, riding a B.M.W. with H. Hohn as partner. His average speed was 86.86 miles per hour (139.79 KPH).

    Second in the race was A. Sansum of Britain riding a Triumph, and third was R. Williamson, also of Britain on a W.H.B.

    SYNOPSIS: The riders line up in a staggered start on Saturday for the 750 cc sidecar event at the International Tourist Trophy Motorcycle Meeting at Douglas, Isle of Man, off the West coast of Britain.

    The major T.T. races, famous the world over, start on Monday, out the big sidecar event always entertains the crowds as the passengers leap from side to side on their motorcycles.

    These were the last to start, waiting anxiously for their turn to roar away on their huge machine
    The is Hanks of Britain on a B.S.A., and Luthringshausen of West Germany on a B.M.W.

    Rounding Quarterbridge corner, on of the major tests on the circuit is Georg Auerbacher, who chased his compatriot Siegrfried Schauzu for a major part of the race.

    But engine failure forced Schauzu to retire on the second of the three laps, after he had been first away and smashed the lap record from a standing start.

    Schauzu slashed 17 seconds off??? record for the 37.75 mile (60.75 kilometres) with his time of 24 minutes 13.6 secs.

    But it was Georg Auerbacher who finished in front. Here he's rounding Governor's Bridge corner with a comfortable win in sight. He finally completed the 113.19 miles (182 kilometres) distance in one hour 18 minutes 12 seconds at an average speed of more than 86 miles per hour (139.79 KPH), ahead of two British riders, A. Sansum on a Triumph and R. Williamsom on a WHB.
