  • Description

During a farewell trip to Europe U.S. Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger has emphasised the agreement which exists between Britain and the United States on the problems of Rhodesia.
Dr. Kissinger spoke about the situation at a news conference at Nato headquarters in Brussels on Friday (10 December). Later he flew on to London with his wife Nancy, where he had a meeting with British Foreign Secretary Anthony Crossland.
Shortly after his arrival in London Dr. Kissinger told another news conference that he was no need for a meeting between himself and Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith. According to Reuters thee has been speculation that Dr. Kissinger might end his three-year world wide diplomatic career with a new initiative, s the Geneva conference on Rhodesia's future has made little headway. Dr. Kissinger leaves the State Department on 20 January. His successor is Mr. Cyrus Vance.
