    NILSSON, WHO WAS LYING SECOND ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE AFTER TWO ROUNDS, WITH 112 POINTS, AMASSED ENOUGH POINTS IN YESTERDAY'S HEATS TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

    THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACES ATTRACTED CARS AND DRIVERS FROM MANY PARTS OF EUROPE, INCLUDING BELGIUM, DENMARK, FRANCE, WEST GERMANY, MONACO, ITALY, SWITZERLAND, YUGOSLAVIA AND BRITAIN.

    THE FIRST ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS WAS HELD IN SWITZERLAND EARLIER THIS SEASON, AND THE SECOND ROUND WAS CONDUCTED IN ITALY.

    NILSSON, AFTER SUCCESSES IN THE HEATS, WON THE FIRST FINAL, OVER 38 LAPS (25 KILOMETRES).
