Background: ABOUT 500 NORTHERN IRELAND CIVIL RIGHTS MARCHERS TODAY (SATURDAY) CROSSED THE BORDER INTO THE IRISH REPUBLIC IN THE FIRST MASS MOVEMENT TO THE SOUTH OF THE MILITANT CAMPAIGN SEEKING REFORMS IN NORTHERN IRELAND. THE PROTESTORS, CHANTING "ONE MAN, ONE VOTE", CROSSED THE NEUTRAL TERRITORY ON THE BORDER AFTER BEING ADDRESSED BY A MARCH ORGANISER, MR. MICHAEL FARRELL.

THE MARCHERS ARE DEMANDING A BETTER DEAL FOR CATHOLICS IN THE PROTESTANT NORTHERN IRELAND, AND ARE SEEKING REFORMS FROM PREMIER TERENCE O'NEILL'S PROTESTANT UNIONIST GOVERNMENT IN BELFAST.

THE DEMONSTRATORS PASSED THROUGH THE TOWN OF DUNDALK WITHOUT INCIDENT, ON A 64-MILEs (100 KMS) MARCH FROM NEERY, COUNTY DOWN, IN NORTHERN IRELAND, TO THE REPUBLICAN CAPITAL DUBLIN.
