The delegates led by the Chamber's President, Dr Henry Fajemirokun, a Nigerian, received praise from General Gowon for their contributions to the economic growth of West Africa.
Dr Fajemirokun later presented General Gowon with a documentary film on West African economic union.
The Chamboi set up in November, 1972, has 11 members. It is based in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.
SYNOPSIS: A delegation from the West African Chamber of Commerce visited Dodan Barracks the office of Nigeria's Head of State, General Gowon -- in Lagos on Monday. The delegates were paying a courtesy visit to General Gowon.
General Gowon warmly praised the Chamber's President, Dr Henry Fajemirokun, a Nigerian, and his executive members, for their contributions to the economic growth of West Africa. The Chamber was set up in November nineteen seventy-two. It is based in Accra, capital of Ghana, and has eleven members.
The delegates and General Gowon discussed a wide range of subjects affecting the economics of the Chamber's member countries. At the end of the meeting, Dr Fajemirokum presented General Gowon with a half-hour-long documentary film, entitled, "West African Economic Union", on behalf of the members of the Chamber.
