    AFTER FLOWER'S ARREST THE HUNT FOR BIGGS SWITCHED TO SYDNEY FROM MELBOURNE WHERE HE HAD TWICE ELUDED POLICE BY ONLY A FEW MINUTES.

    FLOWER, WHO IS 35, WAS SERVING A 12 YEAR SENTENCE IN LONDON FOR ARMED ROBBERY WHEN HE ESCAPED WITH BIGGS IN JULY 1965.

    BIGGS AND FLOWER ARE BOTH BELIEVED TO HAVE COME TO AUSTRALIA THE FOLLOWING YEAR WHERE THEY LIVED IN ADELAIDE BEFORE MOVING TO MELBOURNE THIS YEAR. THE TWO WERE CLOSE FRIENDS.

    POLICE ARRESTED MRS. BIGGS IN MELBOURNE LAST WEEK BUT SHE WAS LATER FREED.

    IN SYDNEY MRS. FLOWER AND HER NINE-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WERE BEING HELD BY POLICE PENDING INVESTIGATIONS BY IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES.

    FLOWER, HANDCUFFED TO TWO DETECTIVES, APPEARED BEFORE THE RYDE COURT YESTERDAY (24TH OCTOBER), AND WAS CHARGED WITH BEING A FUGITIVE IN AUSTRALIA. HE WAS REMANDED IN CUSTODY UNTIL OCTOBER THE 31ST.

    SYDNEY POLICE SAID LATER THAT THEY HAD RETAINED NEW LEADS TO RONALD BIGGS BY QUESTIONING FLOWER.

    BIGGS, WHO WAS SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IN PRISON FOR HIS PART IN THE TWO-AND-A-HALF MILLION POUND TRAIN ROBBERY IN 1963, IS THE LAST OF THE TRAIN ROBBERS STILL FREE.
