    SYNOPSIS: Another Soviet pair, 13-year-old Marina Cherkasova and Sergei Shakhrai finished fourth out of 96 competitors. they scored 36 ordinals and 132.64 points.

    Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner of the United States drew enthusiastic applause for their daring acrobatic routine in the freestyle section. They took third place.

    Another soviet pair took second place. They were Irina Vorobieva and Alexander Vlasov.

    But it was the soviet husband and wife team who stunned the audience with their flawless display of freestyle skating. It drew perfect sic points from one judge, and gave Irina Rodnina and Alexander Zaitsev their fifth world title in a row.
