EACH PATIENT RECEIVES A REGISTRATION CARD AND A SPECIAL INJECTION, WHICH AFTER TWO DAYS, INDICATES THE PRESENCE OF TUBERCULOSIS BY MEANS OF A SMALL INFLAMMATION. T.B SPECIALISTS THEN EXAMINE THE PATIENTS AND X-RAYS AND BACTERIA TESTS ARE TAKEN. ETHIOPIAN NURSES SUPERVISE THE DISTRIBUTION OF TABLETS. A FINGERPRINT RECORD IS ALSO KEPT OF THE PATIENTS WHO RECEIVE MEDICINE.

VACCINATION OF AT LEAST ONE MILLION ETHIOPIANS WAS CARRIED OUT IN APRIL THIS YEAR WHEN YELLOW FEVER RAVAGED THE SOUTH WEST PROVINCE OF GAMU GUFA NEAR THE KENYA BORDER. WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATIONS EXPERTS HELPED WITH THE TASK.

MERE POVERTY IS NOT THE ONLY HANDICAP THE AVERAGE AFRICAN CHILD MUST FACE FROM BIRTH, DISEASE IS EVER PRESENT. HOWEVER, THE AFRICAN PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN THEIR WHOLEHEARTED SUPPORT TO THE HEALTH CAMPAIGNS, FOR AFRICANS LOVE THEIR CHILDREN AND NO LONGER ACCEPT IT AS A NECESSARY EVIL THAT THEY SHOULD DIE YOUNG. UNICEF HAS PROVIDED VACCINE TO PROTECT WELL OVER 200 MILLION AGAINST T.B. ALONE. IT IS HELPING TO FIGHT LEPROSY, YAWS AND BLINDNESS IN CHILDREN IN A FAR FLUNG RANGE OF COUNTRIES AND IS PROVIDING MILK AND OTHER FOOD NECESSARY TO GIVE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN A HEALTHY START IN LIFE.
