    General Idi Amin, the Ugandan President, told an audience of Tanzanians resident in Uganda, that Africans owe allegiance to their individual nations, though they all had a common destiny, and any differences were artificial.

    His speech came during a period of increased tension between Uganda and Tanzania. The border was closed by President Amin for several days. In his speech to the Tanzanians on Friday (10 November), President Amin said there could be serious trouble if Tanzania continued to harbour Ugandan ex-president Milton Obote and his followers. He said there were over 800 trained guerrillas in Tanzania.
