    ON TUESDAY, THE LAST DAY OF HIS OFFICIAL VISIT TO SENEGAL, PRESIDENT MODIBO KEITA OF MALI OPENED AN EXHIBITION OF SENEGALESE HISTORY IN THE MUSEE DYNAMIQUE IN DAKAR. AFTER THE OPENING CEREMONY, PRESIDENT KEITA AND PRESIDENT LEOPOLD SENGHOR OF SENEGAL SIGNED A JOINT COMMUNIQUE CALLING FOR FIRM UNITED NATIONS ACTION OVER RHODESIA.

    AT THE END OF THE WEEK-LONG OFFICIAL VISIT, THE PRESIDENTS OF MALI AND SENEGAL ISSUED A STATEMENT CALLING FOR "EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE ELIMINATION OF MR IAN SMITH'S REGIME AND FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MAJORITY GOVERNMENT IN RHODESIA."
    THEY RE-AFFIRMED SUPPORT FOR THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY AND THE PRESERVATION OF TIES BETWEEN FRANCE AND FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THE COMMUNIQUE ALSO CONDEMNED SOUTH AFRICA'S APARTHEID POLICIES.

    BEFORE ISSUING THE JOINT STATEMENT, PRESIDENT KEITA OFFICIALLY OPENED THE DAKAR EXHIBITION WHICH ILLUSTRATED THE HISTORY OF SENEGAL. IN A SPEECH, THE SENEGALESE MINISTER OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS, MR ASSANE SECK, SAID THAT SENEGAL'S WAS ONE OF THE OLDEST CIVILISATIONS IN THE WORLD.
