    Malawi's President Kamuzu Banda, first black Africa leader to visit Portuguese Mozambique, is scheduled to fly home on Sunday (26 September). His three-day visit, shrouded in secrecy for security reasons, was highlighted on Saturday night (25 September) with a dinner in the former place of the governor-generals it Jlha da Mozambique.

    During his official visit to the Portuguese territory Banda's speeches have repeated many of the same thomas cnemis no expressed during his recent visit to South Africa. Progress between the white ruled and black African countries can only be made through contest and dialogue, he stated.

    One of the first stops on his three-day tour was the Cabora Bassa Dam project. President Banda was conducted on an inspection too of the engineering project on Friday (24 September).

    SYNOPSIS: The Cabora Bassa Dam project in Mozambique, one of the first stops on a three-day official visit by Malawi's President Kamuzu Banda -- the first blao African leader to visit the Portuguese African province. President Banda flew into Matundo military airport from Malawi and was taken to the dam project by Mozambique's governor, Dr. Arantes de Oliveira.

    The official visit has been shrouded in secrecy, of security reasons. The controversial Cabora Bassa Dam is being constructed across a gorge on the Zambes River. African nationalist guerrillas and African politicians see the project as consolidating Portugal's grin on its territory.

    President Banda spoke in glowing terms of the dam. He was conducted on an inspection tour of the project, which will greatly transform the power supply and job opportunities in the region, including Malawi. During the three-day visit to Mozambique, President Banda stressed many of the same themes he expressed during his recent visit to South Africa. He said that progress between the white-ruled and black African countries can be made only through contact and dialogue.
