At a present hearing in Bulawayo city, When Joshua Nkomo was appearing in the local magistrates court on a hearing under the Law and Order Maintenance act, a considerable amount of trouble arose, and considerable damage was done by stomes and people injured through the disturbances...

This time the case was heard in a police station in the African township near Bulawayo with a heavy police guard of riot and regular police on hand. Up to the time of shipping no trouble had arise, but it was known that an industrial strike, with its consequent trouble and intimidation was planned for today. Very strong action was taken by the police, and the workers all turned up for work as usual today. The police station was out of bounds to any except the few Africans involved in the court case.

As soon as a crowd started to form, it was broken up...no force was used but riot police with helmets and batons peacefully dispersed the small but insistent crowds... never more than 200 - 300 people...
