Background: The hacienda-style Palace of Tengku (Prince) Abdul Rahman, a nephew of the Sultan of Johore, Malaya, was the setting there for the first Royal wedding of the year Jan 26. The 30-year-old bridegroom, Tengku Abdul Rahman, was assisted by the Chief Kathi (Moslem Priest) to fill in the marriage certificate.
The bride was Che Zahara Binte (daughter of) Abdullah a former Plymouth (England) hairdresser, Jacqueline Pallett. The 22-year-old bride is the only child of a Britain engineer at Singapore naval dockyard.
Among guests were Johore's Sultan Ismail and Lady Marcella, widow of the late Sultan Sir Ibrahim.
Hundreds of glittering wedding gifts included a silver vanity set from Sultan Ismail and gifts from the bride's relatives in England.
The bride, dressed in a blue and gold Malay costume, and Tongku Abdul Rahman also in traditional Malay costume sit on the decorated bridal dais to receive well-wishers. Then the bride and groom posed for pictures with the bride's father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Pallet.
