TRANSCRIPT: SEQ 4: LEE VAN SAU: The delegation of provisional government of Sough Vietnamese Republic strongly denounces - in front of the world public opinion, and seriously condemns the acts of war of the Nixon administration and demands that it puts immediately an end to them. In order to express his indignation and strong condemnation, the provisional government delegation of the South Vietnamese Republic declares that she supports completely the decision of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam delegation not to attend today plenary session 6th May 1970 - and to postpone the 56th session of this conference to the 14th of May 1970.

Background: Wednesday's (6 May) session of the Paris Peace Talks on the war in Vietnam was cancelled by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese because of President Nixon's use of American troops in Cambodia and renewed bombing strikes against North Vietnam.

The cancellation was the first in the two-year history of the talks and plunged the peace negotiations into their biggest crisis.

But only the day's session was called off and there are no indications of a permanent rupture in the talks.
