  • Description

This morning, as every year the same day (19.11.57), a Greece-wide collection was organized under the auspices and supervision of Queen Frederika of Greece in favour of the National Homeguard Battalions (Civilian) of the greco-bulgarian and greco-albanian borders. Girls, Boy-Scouts, women of the high Athenian society and various other people went around the city collecting money for the Woolen Confort of the above area's vigilant guards of the Iron Curtain's windows--as these areas have been called by NATO officials. The Woolen Confort Collection is the only one in which the poor and the rich offer their wholehearted economic support. Millions of drachmae are collected every year. Naturally, poor families which cannot offer any financial support, give various woolen clothing to be distributed to the Northern Greece guards.
