  • Description

The fact that the British Pavilion of the International Bismuthal Art Show was closed (the pavilion is property of Her Majesty) at Venice has caused a vast echo.

The Pavilion was ordered closed and its contents were placed under the care of the Italian Court of Appeal. This sentence followed another sentence to the same effect reached by lower judiciary court. The first "sentence" declared Her Majesty's Government guilty and called for the payment of damages for a death caused in a highway incident which took place in 1946. At that time a military "jeep" ran down a man at San Dona del Piave (about 40 kms from Venice) causing his death. The man had a wife and children.

This "trial" has caused a great deal of "to do" in the judicial field because of its various and contrasting juridical aspects.
