  • Description

Sir Winston and Lady Churchill flew back to London on the evening of Nov. 6, after Sir Winston had received the Cross of the Liberation from General Charles De Gaulle and France.

The Cross of the Liberation, in the form of the Lorraine Cross and encased in crystal, was awarded to Sir Winston Churchill--- the third non-French citizen to receive it --- for his encouragement and moral and military support given to France during the Second World War. Sir Winston has now become the oldest member of the Order and its 1054th. Of this number only 638 are still alive.
