    THE ACTING NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER IN GHANA, MR. OLU ADENEJI, SAID IN ACCRA ON FRIDAY THAT THE FEDERAL NIGERIAN MILITARY GOVERNMENT WANTED TOTAL MILITARY VICTORY IN THE CIVIL WAR BEFORE DISCUSSIONS WITH BREAKAWAY EASTERN PROVINCE, NOW CALLING ITSELF BIAFRA.

    MR. ADENEJI, SPEAKING AT A NEWS CONFERENCE, ALSO REJECTED THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU) INTERVENING IN THE HOSTILITIES. HE DESCRIBED A CALL BY LIEUTENANT COLONEL OJUKWU, LEADER OF THE EASTERN REGION, FOR OAU INTERVENTION AS AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE SECESSIONIST REGIME RECOGNISED.

    MR. ADENEJI SAID OAU INTERVENTION IN THE CIVIL WAR WOULD BE TANTAMOUNT TO A BREAK-UP OF NIGERIA. HE SAID THE CARDINAL AIM OF THE OAU WAS TO ENCOURAGE UNITY.
