Background: Production of a small car has begun in the United Arab Republic. It is named the "Rameses", has two cylinders and is designed to carry two people. On July 19, the car was given its first public showing in Cairo, in the presence of the U.A.R. Minister of Industry, Dr. Aziz Sedki. The first of the new cars was bought by President Nasser.

The "Rameses" is claimed to have a top speed of 100 kilometres per hour and to be capable of 135 kilometres to the gallon. Only a very limited number of cars has until now been produced in Egypt.
