Background: In the little village Uithoorn (near Amsterdam,) Mrs Cobelens stands as a teacher in front of a classroom, full of healthy children. This newly married young woman had to start working again as a teacher to pay for the medical care of her baby that was born 4 (four) months too early. The personnel of London Airport presented the little Esther with this attractive life-size play-dog on wheels, while the KLM-employees paid for the transport from London-Airport to Uithoorn.
They hoped herewith to bring some joy in the little girls' life
And she is indeed very happy with her new friend.
This sympathetic gesture of all concerned brings happiness to a girl of nearly one year old. who misses a foot and has a deformed hand
Mrs Cobelens, Esther's mother, saw a photograph of the toy-dog, that was standing in the waitingroom of London Airport. She wrote to England to ask for its price and where to buy it. After circulation of the letter in the offices of London airport enough money was collected to offer the costly dog to little Esther KLM-employees paid for the shipment.
