    REPRESENTATIVES OF 24-AFRICAN COUNTRIES ARE ATTENDING A SEMINAR, WHICH OPENED IN WEST BERLIN YESTERDAY (MONDAY), ON PROBLEMS OF CULTURAL POLICY IN AFRICA. THE SEMINAR HAS BEEN ORGANISED BY THE GERMAN FOUNDATION FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AND WILL LAST UNTIL OCTOBER 7.

    THE FIRST PART OF THE SEMINAR ENDS NEXT FRIDAY (16 SEPTEMBER) AND THE 30 AFRICAN DELEGATES WILL THEN GO ON A FORTNIGHT'S STUDY TOUR OF WEST GERMANY. THE FINAL PART OF THE SEMINAR BEGINS ON 30 SEPTEMBER.

    AMONG THE TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED AT THE SEMINAR WILL BE "THE ROLE OF POETRY AND FOLKLORE IN CULTURAL LIFE"; "LANGUAGE AND CULTURE" AND "SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CHANGE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY."
