  • Description

Just hours after a window of the New York office of the Soviet Aeroflot Airline was shattered by a brick on Thursday (14 Jan), the Soviet Mission ad the U.N. made another in a series of complaints about what they regard as inaction by the United States Government in the face of harassment in the city by members of the militant Jewish Defence League (JDL).

Soviet Press Secretary Nicholas Loginov claims that even Soviet Ambassador Jacob A. Malik was followed by a car filled with JDL members who tried to "impede the motion" of his car and shouted abuse at him.

He said the leader of the JDL, Rabbi Meir D. Kahane, had announced his organization's aim to bring about a crisis in Soviet-American relations shortly after returning from a recent visit to Israel.

Press Secretary Loginov made his statement and answered reporters' questions at the Soviet Mission to the U.N. in New York.
