    Mr. Siddam Hussein, Vice-Chairman of the Iraqi Revolutionary Command Council, returned to Baghdad on Saturday (March 24) after a four-day visit to the Soviet Union.

    He headed a delegation which visited Moscow at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party for talks.

    The purpose of the trip was not disclosed, but newspaper reports in Eeirut thought it was in connection with the tense situation which has developed in the Arabian Gulf recently between Iraq and Iran.

    Iraq has expressed profound concern over the big arms deal which Iran recently made with the United States. Last year the Soviet Union promised to strengthen the Iraqi armed forces.

    The Iraqi delegation's visit to Moscow follows a few days after a visit by the Soviet Premier, Mr. Kosygin, to Iran. Beirut reports said the Soviet Union might be trying to mediate the dispute between Iraq and Iran.

    SYNOPSIS: Baghdad, where ministers from Iraq's ruling Baath Socialist Party were on hand to welcome home an official delegati from Moscow. The delegates had been on a four-day official visit and were led by Mr. Siddam Hussein, Vice-Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council. The delegation also included the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Saeed Abdel Baki.
