    THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, MR MACMILLAN, LEFT LONDON AIRPORT BY A COMET JET OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE TODAY (MONDAY) TO FLY TO THE BAHAMAS WHERE HE IS TO HAVE TALKS WITH PRESIDENT KENNEDY. MR MACMILLAN WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY, LORD HOME.

    AS THE BAHAMAS IS A BRITISH COLONY, MR MACMILLAN WILL ACT AS HOST FOR PRESIDENT KENNEDY AND HIS ADVISERS. THE TALKS ARE EXPECTED TO CENTRE ON TWO CRUCIAL MATTERS - THE FUTURE OF THE SKYBOLT MISSILE, AND THE COMMON MARKET. ON THE SKYBOLT ISSUE, THERE IS REPORTED TO BE A WIDE RIFT OF OPINION BETWEEN THE BRITISH AND AMERICAN GOVERNMENTS.

    BEFORE LEAVING LONDON AIRPORT, MR MACMILLAN MADE A BRIEF STATEMENT IN WHICH HE OUTLINED THE PURPOSE OF HIS MEETING WITH PRESIDENT KENNEDY.

    FOLLOWING HIS TALKS WITH PRESIDENT KENNEDY, MR MACMILLAN WILL HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITH THE CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER, MR JOHN DIEFENBAKER, AND WILL RETURN HOME TO BRITAIN IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.
