  • Description

People are looking less and less at the Falls at Niagara Falls these days -- and more and more at the growing number of strange, soaring towers that now dominate the area. The latest of these architectural wonders is due to open next month.

The new skylon observatory towers nearly fifty-stories over the American and Horseshoe Falls. It's the second tower to go up on the Canadian side of the Falls -- and offers not only a dazzling view of the area -- but also a revolving restaurant at the top. Workmen are adding the last touches in preparation for a target opening date of August the Fifteenth. What's described as the world's largest permanent exhibition is planned for the large showrooms at the base of the tower.

The Skylon cost ten million dollars to build -- and soars nearly eight-hundred feet above the Niagara River.
