A World Fair in miniature is taking shape in Johannesburg's Milner Park. Visnews Jan 20 filmed the building activity around the British-German and Belgian pavilions for the annual Rand Easter Show, South Africa's International Fair of Industry and Agriculture.
The round steel construction that Britain is erecting is the first permanent pavilion erected by the United Kingdom outside the United Kingdom. When completed it will have cost around GBP50,000. Its shape calls to mind that of the U.S.A. at the Brussels World Fair.
More than 700 exhibitors from eleven countries have invested GBP250,000, in the form of pavilions to show their wares. The annual Rand Show combines the best features of an Agricultural Show and an Industries Fair. The great surge of international interests availing themselves of this opportunity to display their goods before the South African public, indicates the great potential of this market.
