    THE IVORY COAST PRESIDENT, M. FELIX HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY, TODAY (WEDNESDAY) BECAME THE FIRST HEAD OF STATE TO BE RECEIVED BY FRANCE'S PRESIDENT GEORGES POMPIDOU SINCE HIS ELECTION LAST MONTH. THE TWO LEADERS CONFERRED ON THE NIGERIAN WAR AND FRANCO-IVORY COAST RELATIONS.

    PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY HAD ARRIVED EARLIER FROM GENEVA, WHERE HE OPENED AN EXHIBITION OF HIS COUNTRY'S ARTS AND CRAFTS, AND SPENT 90 MINUTES WITH PRESIDENT POMPIDOU AT THE ELYSEE PALACE.

    SPEAKING TO REPORTERS AFTER THE MEETING, PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY SAID EVERYTHING SHOULD BE DONE TO BRING ABOUT AN UNCONDITIONAL CEASEFIRE IN NIGERIA, LEADING TO PEACE NEGOTIATIONS.

    AFTER REFERRING TO THE APOLLO MOON FLIGHT, HE SAID HE HOPED THE UNITED STATES COULD USE ITS INFLUENCE TO PUT AN END TO THE CIVIL WAR IN NIGERIA.

    M. HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY, WHO ALSO LUNCHED WITH PRESIDENT POMPIDOU, IS DUE TO HAVE TALKS WITH LEADING FRENCH MINISTERS BEFORE HE LEAVES FOR ROME ON MONDAY FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT AND A MEETING WITH PRESIDENT SARAGAT.
