Background: After a round trip of Eastern Europe, starting at Warsaw, travelling to East Berlin, down to Leipzig, the Peace Cycle Race competitors finally arrived in Prague, the finishing point. These riders have been pedalling for 12 days, with two days rest; they started from Warsaw on May 2nd, and finished at Prague on 15th.

In this film we see the last few stages of the race in which many countries including Britain are competing.

STAGE 9. -- May 12th.

This stage took the cyclists from Karlovy marxstadt to Karlovy-Vary. During the greater part of the run the ace riders rode in a group leading the rest of the field. Vanderveken, of Belgium, was well up in individual classification. Suddenly he made a break-away and improved the Belgian's team's position. For the Poles this was the last chance they had of making up ground.

In the leading group there was an Italian, a French racer, a German and two Dutch competitors.

STAGE 10 ---May 13th.

From Karlovy-Vary the route went to Tabor. For the most of this run the trio, Vostriakov, Mastrotto and Glowaty, led the race. As they cycled through Tabor Vostriakov was in the lead, though Glowaty overtook him to win this stage.

STAGE 11----May 14th.

Brno was the next stop. On this stage the Polish team lost their points lead and any chance of winning the Peace Cycle Race. They arrived at Brno in ninth team position with Bradley of Britain winning the stage.

STAGE 12----May 15th.

And so on to the final leg of the race, and victory for the Russian team. Kapitonov of USSR was still in the lead as the bunch of riders neared Prague. Behind him came a group with four Poles battling for the lead. As the competitors entered the stadium at Prague the Russian rider Kapitonov had quite a lead over the rest of the field, and he breathed the tape as winner of the last run and a member of the winning team. Poland, having look fairly good in the earlier stages, finished in fifth position. The individual winner of the whole Peace Cycle Race of 1958 was Piet Damen of Holland, who role superbly.
