    The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals conferred its Medal of Honor and Certificate of Merit on Monkey Baker on Monday June 29 at the Naval School of Aviation Medicine, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.

    Monday Baker in the smaller of the two female monkeys who on May 28 became the first passengers to travel by missile into outer space and be recovered alive.

    ASPCA's National President, William Rockefeller, of New York, presented the award, Dr. Dietrich E. Beischer, director of the project at the Navy's aviation medicine school which trained the open pound Baker, accepted the award in the squirrel monkey's behalf.
