Dr. Von Holleben, said that after he was snatched from his car he was put in a wooden box, chloroformed and taken to a secret hideout.

The West German diplomat said that the most nerve-wracking part of his ordeal was the last 20 hours when release was delayed: firstly because his captors said a car had not arrived to take him home; and then, because some conditions they had set to the Government had not been met.

Dr. Von Holleben said the was deeply grateful to the Brazilian Government for the measures they took to safeguard his life.
