  • Description

The world's richest prize-fight, the battle between heavy-weight Champion George Foreman and former Champion Muhammad Ali, is now expected to take place on either the 23rd or 30th October.

Promoters for the thirty-five-million-dollar (15-million-sterling) bout said on Tuesday (17 September) that the five weeks' postponement should give sufficient healing time for an injury over Foreman's right eye.

The one-inch long gash was caused by an elbow bump in a freak training accident.

Foreman's handlers, while not worried excessively about the injury, are still concerned that it could become a target for Ali's stinging left jabs.

The postponement will mean a major headache for the promoters, because thousands of sports arenas and cinemas have been booked for the closed-circuit telecast of the fight.
