On March the 8th, Nikita Khrushchov, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, received Mr. D. Christopher, Mayor of San Francisco, and had a friendly talk with him.
There was a unanimous wish expressed on both sides for the further betterment of Soviet-American relations and the development of economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
Nikita Khrushchev recalled with pleasure his visit to California during his tour in the United States last year and asked Mr. Christopher to convey to the citizens of San Francisco his greetings and gratitude for the friendly reception given him as the head of the Soviet Government.
Mr. Christopher expressed thanks for the warm hospitality given him in the Soviet Union and spoke highly of the Soviet people' enormous achievements in the fields of economic and cultural construction which he observed with his own eyes during his stay in the Soviet Union.
Present at the talk was G. A. Zhukov, Chairman of the State Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers for Cultural Relations with Foreign countries.
