Background: Indo-Pakistan relations have dipped to their lowest point since the 1965 Kashmir war, following the ban by India of all overflights of its territory by Pakistani aircraft. The Government action, and the laying of virtual siege to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi by some 4,000 students have brought to the situation in the Indian subcontinent to near crisis point.
The demonstration came a day after the initial violence on Wednesday (our prod. 1377/71) and as the Indian Government announced than ban on Pakistani overflights.
