  • Description

AMERICAN FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION DETECTIVES HAVE BEEN EXAMINING THE EVIDENCE AND CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING LAST WEEK'S KILLING OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY. SEVERAL UNEXPLAINED MYSTERIES HAVE ATTRACTED THE ATTENTION OF THE DETECTIVES, AMONG THEM THE MOTIVES OF HARVEY OSWALD, THE MAN ACCUSED OF THE MURDER.

THE F.B.I. HAVE CONDUCTED A REPETITION OF THE LATE PRESIDENT'S MOTORCADE THROUGH THE STREETS OF DALLAS. RE-ENACTING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE ASSASSINATION GAVE THEM VALUABLE INFORMATION AND A BASIS ON WHICH TO EXAMINE CRITICALLY ALL THE EVIDENCE OFFERED.

AMMUNITION FIRED FROM A RIFLE PLACED IN A WINDOW OF THE SCHOOLBOOK STORE MIGHT WELL BE VICIOUS DUM-DUM BULLETS, OR SOFT-NOSED HUNTING BULLETS. THIS FACT WOULD EXPLAIN THE "LARGE GAPING WOUND" REPORTED BY A DOCTOR AT THE BACK OF MR. KENNEDY'S HEAD.

DALLAS POLICE HAVE BEEN INSISTING THAT THE ASSASSIN COULD HAVE FIRED THREE RIFLE BULLETS IN A MATTER OF SECONDS -- DESPITE REPORTS FROM EXPERTS ELSEWHERE SAYING THAT EVEN A SKILLED MARKSMAN WOULD FIND SUCH A FEAT IMPOSSIBLE WITH THIS PARTICULAR RIFLE.

MR. ALEXANDER, ONE OF THE CITY PROSECUTORS WORKING WITH THE F.B.I., SAID ON WEDNESDAY THAT EVIDENCE FOUND IN OSWALD'S ROOM PROVED HE WAS "AN ACTIVE WORKER IN THE COMMUNIST CAUSE". MR. ALEXANDER ADDED THAT THIS INCLUDED LETTERS IN WHICH COMMUNISTS "THANKED OSWALD FOR PAST SERVICES". BUT MR. ALEXANDER SAID HE HAD SEEN NOTHING IN LETTERS FOUND IN OSWALD'S ROOM WHICH COULD REFER TO A PLOT TO ASSASSINATE THE PRESIDENT.

MEANWHILE, DALLAS IS A CITY BEWILDERED AND SADDENED. PASSERS-BY ARE STILL STOPPING AT THE POINT NEAR WHERE MR. KENNEDY WAS SHOT, PRAYING AND LEAVING BOUQUETS OF FLOWERS IN REMEMBRANCE OF A PRESIDENT WHO CAME TO MEET THE PEOPLE -- AND DIED.
