Members of the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A.) have claimed responsibility for the murder of another?
Members of the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A.) have claimed responsibility for the murder of another British soldier in Belfast. He was the second soldier to die in successive nights. The I.R.A. claimed responsibility for the first murder as well. The organization said that the two murders were in retaliation for the shooting of two Irish civilians in Londonderry last week. The soldier killed last night was a member of a patrol fired on from ambush as it passed a housing estate.
SYNOPSIS: Another British soldier was shot to death in Belfast last night.... the second to die in as many nights... and the tenth since British troops first moved into the troubled British province. Soldiers were on the scene within minutes after the shooting and police with tracker dogs searched the area....but the killers had escaped. Ballistic experts were on the scene first thing this morning and made a detailed examination of the wall which shielded the murderers. Spent cartridges from a machine gun were found.
The dead soldier was on mobile patrol with three other man who returned the fire. The holes made by their bullets could be seen in the wall.

The outlawed Irish Republic Army today claimed responsibility for the murder and said that like the first, a soldier killed by a sniper yesterday, was in retaliation for the killing of two Irish civilians in Londonderry last week.
