    THERE IS A PORTRAIT OF QUEEN ELIZABETH, PAINTED WHEN SHE WAS A YOUNG SCHOOLGIRL.AND ONE OF HER SISTER, PRINCESS MARGARET, PAINTED, WHEN THE PRINCESS WAS ONLY FIVE, BY EDMUND BROCK.

    A FINE AND TYPICALLY INTIMATE PAINTING BY SIR EDWIN LANDSEER SHOWS QUEEN VICTORIA WITH VICTORIA, PRINCESS ROYAL, AND ALBERT EDWARD, PRINCE OF WALES -- LATER KIND EDWARD II, IT WAS PAINTED FOR QUEEN VICTORIA IN 1842.

    OTHER FACETS OF THE ROYAL CHILDREN ARE ON SHOW AS WELL.THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL CHRISTENING ROBE.MADE OF HONITON LACE FOR QUEEN VICTORIA, IT HAS BEEN WORN AT NEARLY EVERY ROYAL CHRISTENING SINCE.

    THERE ARE LETTERS WRITTEN BY THE ROYAL CHILDREN.ONE WAS WRITTEN BY QUEEN VICTORIA TO HER MOTHER IN 1825.IT WISHED HER, "A VERY, VERY, HAPPY NEW YEAR."
    MINIATURE ARE WELL REPRESENTED.THERE ARE A SERIES BY SIR WILLIAM ROSS FEATURING QUEEN VICTORIA'S CHILDREN.THEY ARE ALL LESS THAN 3 INCHES HIGH.

    ROYAL CHRISTENING PRESENTS SHOW THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THE COUNTRY'S SILVERWARE.THE HIGHLY DECORATED FONT WAS MADE IN 1840 FOR THE BAPTISM OF THE PRINCESS ROYAL.SINCE THEN IT WAS SEEN SERVICE AT MANY ROYAL CHRISTENINGS.

    ONE OF THE MOST CHARMING PICTURES IN THE EXHIBITION IS A BEAUTIFUL WORK BY FRANS XAVER WINTERHALTER, ONE OF THE GREATEST 19TH CENTURY PORTRAIT PAINTERS.PAINTED IN 1849, IT SHOWS PRINCE ALFRED, THEN 5 YEARS OLD, AND PRINCESS HELENA, ONLY 3.IT WAS ONE OF QUEEN VICTORIA'S FAVOURITE PAINTINGS.

    AND TODAY'S ROYAL CHILDREN ARE NOT LEFT OUT.PORTRAITS IN CHALKS SHOW PRINCE CHARLES AND PRINCESS ANNE.THE WORKS WERE EXECUTED IN 1957 BY A.K.LAWRENCE.PRINCE CHARLES WAS NINE YEARS OLD, AND PRINCESS ANNE SEVEN.

    A DONKEY BAROUCHE, ON DISPLAY AT THE EXHIBITION, ALTHOUGH NEARLY 120 YEARS OLD, IS STILL USED BY THE ROYAL CHILDREN.IT WAS GIVEN TO THE PRINCE OF WALES IN 1847 AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FROM QUEEN ADELAIDE.NOW DRAWN BY A SHETLAND PONY IT IS USED TO TAKE PRINCE ANDREW AROUND THE PALACE GROUNDS.
