Background: Top European fashion buyers are in Abidjan to attend an International Textile and Garment Fair, the most ambitious ever organised in the Ivory Coast. The foreign visitors were flown in by charter aircraft from Paris. The fair opened Monday (April 29) and will continue until Saturday (May 4). For the first two days of the show some 40 stands were placed in the Hotel Ivoire and a series of fashion shows were staged. During the last three days participants will meet buyers for individual presentations. The fair was opened by Mr. Mamadou Coulibaly, the President of the Economic and Social Council. The fair features productions from African nations associated with the European Common Market. Among nations taking part are Togo, Mali and Upper Volta.
