    Background: Paris police are making a detailed examination of an apartment in the city where they suspect kidnappers held a Renault company official for 48 hours.

    Mr. Robert Nogrette was released by him captors on Friday (10 March) after being held at gun-point for two days.

    After his release, M. Nogrette was able to give police a detailed description of the interior of the apartment -- and spoke of an advertising sign he could see through the window.

    This led police to an apartment building in the Rue Parent de Rosan. When they entered the flat, they found it empty -- and the search is still on for the kidnappers.

    Claiming responsibility for the kidnapping is an extremist group calling itself the "New Popular Resistance Movement".

    SYNOPSIS: An apartment building in Paris where police suspect a Renault company official was held for 48 hours by his kidnappers. M. Robert Negratte was released by his captors on Friday after being held at gunpoint for two days.

    This sign - spotted by M. Nogrette during his captivity - led police to the building. Inside, they've made a detailed examination of the apartment - but the kidnappers are still at large.

    Reconstructing the release of M. Nogrette police believe he was taken down this elevator.

    In the third basement he was bundled into a car, taken a short distance, then released. M. Nogratte has been unable to identify his captors form police files.
