Brazil defeated Bulgaria 1-0, in a friendly soccer match in Sao Paulo on Sunday (23 January). Bulgaria are currently touring South America as part of their World Cup preparations.
SYNOPSIS: Bulgaria, wearing white and playing from right to left, kicked off to a good start in the first half of this friendly match. Brazil however were quick to assert themselves and remained in control of play throughout the game, despite of strong defence by Bulgaria.
Brazil soon gained possession of the ball and were awarded a free kick when one of their forwards was fouled.
Bulgarian goalkeeper, Krastev, however, managed to save the powerful Brazilian shot.
Once again Krastev held off the Brazilian attack, but the Brazilian team continued its offensive.
Anxious crowds whistled as Bulgaria slowly passed the ball up the field. With the score still nil all nearing half time, it was anyone's game. However Brazil still managed to gain control of the ball.
The atmosphere intensified as Brazil attempted to score just before half time. Once again the Bulgarian goalkeeper saved.
Brazil kicked off at half time and continued a strong offensive by attacking down the right wing. The last half was much the same as the first half with most of the action centred around the Bulgarian goal area.
Brazil's Roberto, scored the only goal of the game in the 50th minute of play. World Cup Qualifying matches in South America begin next month.
