  • Description

IN A MONTH WERE TEMPERATURES IN LONDON SWUNG FROM NEAR RECORD HEAT TO ALMOST WINTER COLD, AN INTERNATIONAL OR COLLECTION WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FASHION SCENE IN THE BRITISH CAPITAL. THE COLLECTION, IN WHICH NEARLY A HUNDRED CREATIONS WERE ON SHOW, REPRESENTED THE HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT SHOWS IN PARIS AND FRANKFURT.

COURREGES, THE AVANT-GARDE PARIS DESIGNER, INSPIRED ONE BLACK AND WHITE PERSIAN LAMB COAT. THE SKINS CAME FROM SOUTH WEST AFRICA AND WERE MADE BY RICHARD KUNZE OF MANNHEIM, WEST GERMANY. IT WAS A PRIZE WINNER AT A RECENT SHOW IN FRANKFURT. WITH IT THE MODEL WORE THE FAMOUS TRADE MARKS OF COURREGES - DRAMATIC SUN GLASSES AND SOFT LEATHER BOOTS. THE COATS WILL BE ON SALE FOR ABOUT GBP600.

THE SAME DESIGNER SHOWED ANOTHER STRIKING CREATION WHICH WON A TOP AWARD AT THE FRANKFURT SHOW. THIS TIME IT WAS IN RARE AMBER AZURENE VIOLET MINK. THE FULL-LENGTH COAT FEATURED A SCALLOPED SKIRT.

MINK WAS AGAIN USED, BY KUNZE IN A COAT WHICH HAS FLYING BACK PANEL. THIS PANEL, WHICH IS DETACHABLE, REVEALS AN INSET OF COFFEE-COLOURED PERSIAN LAMB.

A SPORTING TOUCH WAS GIVEN BY A NATURAL BLACK AND WHITE AMERICAN CALF-SKIN ANORAK WITH THE HOOD AND FRONT PANELS TRIMMED WITH BLACK FOX. IT WAS ALSO DESIGNED BY RICHARD KUNZE.

FOR THE WOMAN WHO SEEKS TO BE REALLY EXCLUSIVE, THERE WAS PYTHON COAT MADE FROM 17 BABY PYTHON SKINS. IT HAS A BLACK SEAL SKIN COLLAR. THIS UNUSUAL COAT WAS SAID BY THE ORGANISERS OF THE SHOW TO BE THE ONLY COAT OF ITS KIND IN EUROPE.
