  • Description

The United Nations Security Council has condemned the South African government for what it termed massive violence against African people. The 15-nation Council approved the resolution by consensus, without a vote on Friday (19 June). It followed racial riots in townships when more than 100 people died and about 1,000 people were injured.

SYNOPSIS: Among the countries who spoke for the resolution were Tanzania and the United States. South Africa defended her situation and explained what could be lost in that country.
