    The International Film Festival - this year it is the 21st of the series - was opened in Venice Aug 24 by Italy's Minister of Public Education Senator Giacinto Bosco. It was an event which attracted many of the city's crowds of summer visitors.

    Among the Italian screen stars present were Giulietta Masina and Rossana Schiaffino.

    A French film was chosen for the honour of being the first shown at the Festival. It was "Un, deux, trois, quatre", directed by Englishman Terence Young. One of its stars, Zizi Jean Marie, was also present at the Festival's inauguration.
