    In the Hardie-Ferodo One Thousand motor racing classic at Bathurst in Australia, on Sunday (2 October), Allan Moffat hurtled to victory at speeds touching 169 MPH (272 KMH). But at times he could have gone faster....instead he held back his car to allow team mate Colin Bond to catch up, and make it a first and second place victory for Fords.

    SYNOPSIS: Sixty cars roared off at the start of the gruelling six-hour race. It's been called the Melbourne Cup of Australian motor racing... and this year Fords were putting in a major team effort. Commentators from Australia's Channel Seven network take up the race.
