Background: The London Fashion Fair -- the largest of its kind in the world -- was hold for three days (9-11 April) at the Earl's Court Exhibition centre and as has become usual for the twice-yearly event attracted a large number of buyers from all over the world.

Pro-exhibition buyer registrations exceeded 10,000, with 3,000 of them coming from buyers from twenty-three foreign countries.

Since its inception the Fair has gradually developed from a purely British fashion promotion event to one which attracts international participation.

This year's April show saw ten foreign countries selling fashion goods alongside the British exhibitors.

The Fair provides a look ahead for styles which will be on sale in European and American shops this autumn, but did not show much in the way of starting novelties.

Dresses can be wide or clinging, long or short (but always below the knee) and all colours and prints are possible. In other words, the spirit of fashion anarchy which has reigned supreme for several years now is still holding the stage - which probably days something for the success of the Women's Liberation Movement!
