Background: Hundreds of miners went to London today to protest about the Coal Board's plans to close more pits. After marching from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square
they went to the House of Commons, where they were allowed in in batches to lobby their M.P.s. At the same time delegations from each of the areas represented had gone to give the Minister of Power their view that no more pits should be closed until jobs have been found for displaced men. Nearly five-hundred of the miners had come by special train from Wales, and another four-hundred had flown from Scotland.
