    General Etienne Eyadema, president of Togo, this week received traditional greetings for the New Year 1973 at the presidential palace in Lome, the capital.

    Greetings from the diplomatic corps were delivered by French Ambassador Jean Pierre Campredon, and General Eyadema received good wishes from members of the army, traditional tribal chiefs and war veterans.

    SYNOPSIS: Leaders of Togo government, the military and the diplomatic corps gathered at the presidential palace in Lome this week to bring traditional New Year's greetings to President General Etienne Eyadema.

    The French ambassador to Togo, M. Jean Pierre Campredon, presented the greetings of the diplomatic community, and congratulated the president on a year full of achievements. The ambassador said that unlike some other nations, Togo was moving steadily towards national unity.

    General Eyadema said Togo had learned the benefits of peace and was actively working towards a time of universal peace, when all of mon's resources could be put into the development and happiness of mankind. The president then greeted his guests, among them members of the army and war veteran groups, churchmen and traditional tribal chiefs.
