    Background: Heads of State from several French-speaking African nations arrived in Bangui, Central African Republic, on Thursday (6 March) for a two-day thirteen-nation summit meeting.

    They will be meeting with President Valery Giscard d'Estaing, and at the top of the agenda for discussion will be world inflation and the energy crisis.

    Among the leaders who arrived in Bangui on Thursday were the President of Niger, Colonel Seyni Kountche, who was welcomed by C.A.R. Prime Minister Elisabeth Domitien.

    President Felix Houphouet-Boigny of the Ivory Coast was welcomed by C.A.R. President Jean-Bedel Bokassa. The President was also on hand to greet Presidents Leopold Sedar Senghor of Senegal and Sangoule Lamizana of Upper Volta.

    Other Heads of States to attend the summit which began on Friday (7 March), are those from Burundi, Gabon and Rwanda.

    The Prime Ministers of the Seychelles and Mauritius and representatives of the Heads of State of Dahomey, Togo and Zaire are also attending. The Togolese representative is the country's Transport Minister Alex Mivedor who was another of the African leaders to arrive at Bangui airport on Thursday.
