Background: Egyptian Vice President Hosni Mubarak, on a tour of African countries, arrived in Kenya on Tuesday (20 September) for talks with Kenyan President Jomo Kenyatta.
SYNOPSIS: The talks were held on Wednesday (21 September) at the summer State House in Mombasa. With Mr. Mubarak was the Kenyan Vice President, D??? Moi. On his arrival at Nairobi Airport, Mr. Mubarak received an enthusiastic welcome from Egyptians living in Kenya.
The Egyptian Vice President was on an eight-day tour of black African states. He'd already had talks with the leaders of Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia. On his arrival, Mr. Mubarak told reporters he had a message for President Kenyatta from the Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat.
President Kenyatta greeted his Egyptian guest with a wave of his fly-whisk, a now familiar sign of welcome. Details of their talks were not disclosed, but officials said the two men discussed Middle East and African issues.
After his Mombasa talks, Mr. Mubarak left for the Sudan and Djibouti. He was due in Cairo on Friday (23 September).
