Dr. Nkrumah, the Ghanaian Premier, arrived at London Airport August 10. He was delayed at Kano, Nigeria, when the 'Britannia' aircraft in which he was flying had to put back to Kano with a mechanical fault. Passengers were transferred to another aircraft
Main purpose of his visit is to spend two days as guest of Her Majesty the Queen at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, where the Royal Family are holidaying. He is expected to discuss an alternative date for her visit to Ghana. This was to have begun in November but has to be postponed because Her Majesty is expecting a child.
The Ghanaian Premier was scheduled to go straight to No 10 Downing Street for informal talks with Premier Macmillan before the British Premier left August 11 for a shooting holiday in Yorkshire. Subjects to be discussed included current relations between Ghana and the British Government, and the possibility of future constitutional changes. Ghana became an independent member of the Commonwealth in March 1957.
Another question likely to be discussed is Ghana's stand with Guinea, which cut its connections with France last year, to constitute themselves as the nucleus of a union of West African States.
